This years’ Chalk It Up didn’t fail to live up to its reputation as a singular spectacle. Both residents and tourists alike turned out in the thousands to see, puzzle over, and participate in the interactive community art event that takes over Houston Street each year. That the fine Saturday was neither marred by precarious precipitation nor oppressive heat was icing on the cake.

ArtPace organized many more structured opportunities this year, including designated team spaces for schools, local artists, and corporate sponsors. CO LAB Magazine even had a spot of it’s own. In addition to getting their hands dusty, people of San Antonio were also able to engage in live haiku workshops by Guerrilla Haiku, digital mixing lessons courtesy the AM Project, and toe-tapping with street performers.

And as for our space – well, see what our all-girl team of local students did with it:

We owe an unfathomable debt and appreciation to our students, Jhessail, Blanca, Abi, and Dakotah, for being a part of our team and creating with us. We couldn’t be more amazed, awed, and proud of what you were able to accomplish together.
